These are the Dathan and Abiram who were called by the congregation, who contended against Moses and against Aaron in the company of Korah, when they contended against the Lord, 10and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them up along with Korah, when that company died, when the fire devoured 250 men, so that they became a warning. 11The sons of Korah, however, did not die.

19The sons of Judah were Er and Onan, but Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan. 20The sons of Judah according to their families were: of Shelah, the family of the Shelanites; of Perez, the family of the Perezites; of Zerah, the family of the Zerahites. 21The sons of Perez were: of Hezron, the family of the Hezronites; of Hamul, the family of the Hamulites. 22These are the families of Judah according to those who were numbered of them, 76,500.
23The sons of Issachar according to their families: of Tola, the family of the Tolaites; of Puvah, the family of the Punites; 24of Jashub, the family of the Jashubites; of Shimron, the family of the Shimronites. 25These are the families of Issachar according to those who were numbered of them, 64,300.
26The sons of Zebulun according to their families: of Sered, the family of the Seredites; of Elon, the family of the Elonites; of Jahleel, the family of the Jahleelites. 27These are the families of the Zebulunites according to those who were numbered of them, 60,500.
PSALM 33
Praise to the Creator and Preserver.
1Sing for joy in the Lord, O you righteous ones;
Praise is becoming to the upright.
2Give thanks to the Lord with the lyre;
Sing praises to Him with a harp of ten strings.
3Sing to Him a new song;
Play skillfully with a shout of joy.
4For the word of the Lord is upright,
And all His work is done in faithfulness.
5He loves righteousness and justice;
The earth is full of the lovingkindness of the Lord.
As Newborn Babes

The Victorious Power of the God of Jacob.

1God is known in Judah;
His name is great in Israel.
2His tabernacle is in Salem;
His dwelling place also is in Zion.
3There He broke the flaming arrows,
The shield and the sword and the weapons of war. Selah.
4You are resplendent,
More majestic than the mountains of prey.
5The stouthearted were plundered,
They sank into sleep;
And none of the warriors could use his hands.
6At Your rebuke, O God of Jacob,
Both rider and horse were cast into a dead sleep.
7You, even You, are to be feared;
And who may stand in Your presence when once You are angry?
8You caused judgment to be heard from heaven;
The earth feared and was still
9When God arose to judgment,
To save all the humble of the earth. Selah.
10For the wrath of man shall praise You;
With a remnant of wrath You will gird Yourself.
11Make vows to the Lord your God and fulfill them;
Let all who are around Him bring gifts to Him who is to be feared.

Esther’s Plea
1Now the king and Haman came to drink wine with Esther the queen. 2And the king said to Esther on the second day also as they drank their wine at the banquet, “What is your petition, Queen Esther? It shall be granted you. And what is your request? Even to half of the kingdom it shall be done.” 3Then Queen Esther replied, “If I have found favor in your sight, O king, and if it pleases the king, let my life be given me as my petition, and my people as my request; 4for we have been sold, I and my people, to be destroyed, to be killed and to be annihilated. Now if we had only been sold as slaves, men and women, I would have remained silent, for the trouble would not be commensurate with the annoyance to the king.” 5Then King Ahasuerus asked Queen Esther, “Who is he, and where is he, who would presume to do thus?” 6Esther said, “A foe and an enemy is this wicked Haman!” Then Haman became terrified before the king and queen.
Haman Is Hanged
7The king arose in his anger from drinking wine and went into the palace garden; but Haman stayed to beg for his life from Queen Esther, for he saw that harm had been determined against him by the king. 8Now when the king returned from the palace garden into the place where they were drinking wine, Haman was falling on the couch where Esther was. Then the king said, “Will he even assault the queen with me in the house?” As the word went out of the king’s mouth, they covered Haman’s face. 9Then Harbonah, one of the eunuchs who were before the king said, “Behold indeed, the gallows standing at Haman’s house fifty cubits high, which Haman made for Mordecai who spoke good on behalf of the king!” And the king said, “Hang him on it.” 10So they hanged Haman on the gallows which he had prepared for Mordecai, and the king’s anger subsided.
